Why I Teach
I didn't find teaching; teaching kind of found me! Going into my senior year of high school I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do yet. However, wise counsel from those like my father showed me that I could make a great teacher someday. I am pretty good with kids and I've always been kind, sensitive and caring. I became a counselor at a local summer camp led by a fellow teacher who also saw my potential with young ones and encouraged me to continue on the path I had chosen. I am currently working on becoming certified at both the Elementary and Middle school level in both history and science. While I envision myself working with younger children at the elementary level, I have a passionate love of history and would definitely take the opportunity to teach a middle school history class if I ever got the chance.
My Teaching Philosophy
Coming soon! I have not had the opportunity to make one yet.
Fun Facts!
- I was born and grew up in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area.
- I was a giant blueberry as Violet Beauregard in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory once!
- My favorite color is purple.
- My favorite food is chicken salads (with fries on top of course!)
- I come from a family of five; mom, dad, an older brother, a younger sister, and me stuck in the middle!
- Kids have always had my heart; their genuine love of life and beautiful innocence is something truly special that we as adults have to nurture and care for as best that we can.
What I am Involved in at College
Here at Grove City, besides being in the education department, I am a proud member of the cheer squad and a soon to be member of the theatre department. I have been cheering since 7th grade and have loved every minute of it. I have only been acting slightly longer, since 6th grade, and absolutely adore being on stage! If you ever need either a cheer coach, a theatre director, or both, I'm your girl. I am also a professing Christian, and while I am not involved in any campus ministry yet, I hope to be soon. I would love to help oversee any faith based groups you may have at your school as a teacher. I know that professing my faith may be limited in a school setting, but I love to look for opportunities to do so and hope to show my Christian faith through my actions and how I conduct myself in school.
