While in college, I got to be a part of some amazing community events. Besides helping out in the early learning center on campus I got to be a part of a local pizza and math night at the Pizza Hut just down the street from the college. There were kids from the early learning center plus other kids from the outside community at the pizza place with their families who joined in the fun. There was a mix of math and art activities for the kids to choose from. I was in charge of a math game. Essentially you rolled a pair of dice and then stack the correct number of blocks. You can do it with one or two die; it depends on if you want to work on counting or adding. It was a lot of fun; the kids had a blast and really enjoyed it and I got a chance to practice coming up with an activity and then teaching it to a group. I would definitely love to help out with this event again. Dr. Munson, the leader of the event and one of the heads of the EEC, did a great job with the event.
